BAKESFIELD, Calif. -- Tying the knot on Valentine's Day ensures one thing, according to Charles Dowda."It's easy to remember the anniversary date, " said Dowda. He and his new bride, Annette Dowda, joined 64 other couples who got married at the County Clerks Office Wednesday afternoon.
"Normally we do 10 to 15 weddings a day. We have two wedding rooms, today we have three and they are filled all day," said County Clerk and Marriage Commissioner Ann Barnett. After dating for two and a half years Jim Gorospe and Monette Ramos decided to cut their engagement short and tie the knot in a quick 20 minute civil ceremony."It just fits the mood everybody is in the loving mood I mean why not it makes the occasion on Valentine's better for us," said Gorospe.
