Lerdo Inmate Escape Attempt Thwarted By Razor Fence

POSTED: 11:50 pm PDT March 29, 2007
UPDATED: 10:28 am PDT March 30, 2007

An inmate trying to escape from the Lerdo Minimum Facility was unsuccessful Thursday.

Sheriff's officials said Jorge Flores Rosas tried to climb over a security fence at 3:40 p.m., when he got tangled in the razor wire.

Detention deputies were able to free Rosas and he was taken to Kern Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Lerdo Minimum Facility has been upgrading the wire and fencing around it's perimeter in order to stop a rash of escapes that have happened over the past year.

Rosas was being held on charges of grand theft, receiving stolen property, prowling and a boarder patrol hold.

He can now add the escape attempt to that list.
