Jury Finds Vincent Brothers Guilty In Slaying Of Family

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The jury in the Vincent Brothers mass murder trial has found Brothers guilty on five counts of first degree murder.Brothers, a former Bakersfield vice principal, sat emotionless as the jury filed into the courtroom, ABC23 reported.He started crying during the reading of the guilty verdicts on the counts of killing his children.
Brothers has been convicted of killing his wife, Joanie Harper, his mother-in-law, Ernestine Harper, and three children, Marques, 4, Lyndsey, 2, and Marshall, 6 weeks, in July of 2003.Police said they found the bodies of Joanie Harper and two children on her bed, where they had been napping after returning from church. They found the body of Earnestine Harper lying in a hallway, shot at near point-blank range like the others. According to witness testimony, police would later discover the infant under a pile of bedclothes in his mother's room.Vincent Brothers is eligible for the death penalty.
