Two people are dead after separate traffic accidents in the eastern part of Kern County Thursday morning.

An unidentified 25-year-old Kernville man died after he lost control of his Mazda on Burlando Road near Lake Isabella and crashed into a tree just before 1 a.m., a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The man was airlifted to Kern Medical Center where he died two hours later, authorities said.

In the other incident, an unidentified woman was killed at about 2:40 a.m. on Highway 395 near Inyokern, when she stepped in front of a big rig truck in front of a mobile gas station, the C.H.P. spokesman said.
