Toddler Killed In Driveway Accident

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A toddler was killed Thursday evening after being hit by a car in an East Bakersfield Alley.
It happened at 8 p.m. near Williams and Flower Streets.
California Highway Patrol officers at the scene said a woman in a new model grey Chrysler was backing up in the alley, when 1 yr. old Jonathon Kennon walked behind her vehicle.
Hall Ambulance arrived on scene and began CPR on the child. He was then rushed to Kern Medical Center.
According to CHP, the child was pronounced dead a little after 9 p.m.According to www.kidsandcars.org, 50 percent of non-traffic fatalities involving kids under 15 are caused by vehicles in reverse.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says two children are killed each week because of backover accidents.
Most children involved in backover accidents are between 12 and 23 months old.
