Shooting Deaths

Two Victims In East Bakersfield Shot In Head

UPDATED: 4:00 pm PDT August 15, 2007

Two people are dead after being found shot in the head in an East Bakersfield home.

Neighbors and Sheriff's Detectives don't know exactly what happened Tuesday morning, but around 10am the brother of the female victim heard her youngest child crying.

He knew something was wrong, entered the home and found his sister, Irene Beltran, and brother-in-law, David Ramirez Madrigal injured.

According to the Sheriff's Department, Beltran was pronounced dead at the scene while Ramirez was taken to Kern Medical Center where he later died.

A neighbor in the 1500 block of Ridgeview Street called 911 after the brother told her to. She says the couple were nice people who would offer anything they could to help neighbors.

The Sheriff's Department is continuing its investigation saying that it would take several hours to comb through the crime scene for evidence, although they did say there was no weapon found immediately inside the home.

Detectives have been talking to the two young children found in the home to see if they can provide any information as to why Ramirez and Beltran were killed Tuesday morning.
