Gay Community Protests Same-Sex Marriage Act Veto

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Members of Bakersfield's gay community will protest the veto of a same-sex marriage act.The rally comes on the heels of the veto of Assembly Bill 43.If approved, the bill would have extended marriage rights to same-sex couples.
It's the second time Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed the same bill.The governor said Proposition 22, approved by voters in 2000, defines that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid in California.Monday's rally starts at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Chester and Truxtun avenues.
