Crisp Home Auction PostponedCrisp's mansion on Newquay Court in southwest Bakersfield was slated to be auctioned off Wednesday morning by the lender after going into foreclosure.
The auctioneer told ABC23 there has been a mutual agreement between Crisp and the lender.Crisp's house on Newquay Court went into foreclosure after he failed to pay his mortgage. The mortgage company is hoping to recover the more than $1.8 million still owed on the home.Just last month the FBI, IRS and other agencies searched 13 homes and businesses affiliated with David Crisp and Carl Cole. The agents were seen shuffling through unknown documents at the properties, looking for any evidence of illegal activity.Just a day before the searches, the California Department of Real Estate filed a 25-page complaint against David Crisp, Carl Cole and several known associates. The complaint alleged that there was lying to lenders to get loans as well as fraudulent practices. Also on the auction block is a home owned by Joseph Dennis Speakman of Castle Home Loans.According to the Daily Report that home is in foreclosure as well, and more than $600,000.Speakman wrote to ABC23 that people in the real estate industry have suffered personal hardship in a declining market, and that he has had to make some tough choices in the last few months, which includes downsizing."Your viewers should know they can take steps to work with their lender as I have with mine. They can avoid losing their homes, also," Speakman wrote.
