Presidential Candidate Says Too Much Invested In Foreign Oil

While Bakersfield still has seen no candidates from the current race for the presidency, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton gave a speech at Fresno High School Monday.

The New York senator criticized U.S. companies for importing more foreign oil than before 9/11. She said America is sending billions of dollars to regimes that use the money against the U.S.

Clinton mentioned that she was backing the Apollo Project as part of her campaign, which is a project for clean, renewable energy.

A Fresno Bee YouTube video captured the beginning minutes of the event, also showing Clinton thank Dolores Huerta, who stood onstage. Clinton also gave a rousing speech where she asked, “Are you ready for change?”

Huerta, born in 1930, was one of the former leaders of the United Farm Workers who worked to help bring health care to migrant farm workers. She and Cesar Chavez formed the Robert F. Kennedy Medical Plan, though she currently runs the Dolores Huerta Foundation, which helps build active communities in disparaging areas of economic disadvantage.

Huerta was onstage and near to Bobby Kennedy during his 1968 assasination.

The Fresnan blog showed some video of the setup prior to the event.

According to the Fresno Bee, Clinton set up on a sidewalk along Echo Avenue and spoke to a crowd close to 3,000 people. She said California is in the forefront of using and testing sources of renewable energy, such as wind, solar biomass and biodiesel.

Fresno is known for having a large constituent of Republicans.
