This time of year more and more families are saying, "Out with the oven and in with the fryer."

But there are dangers that can go with frying your Thanksgiving turkey.

The Kern County Fire Department say every year they get a call from someone who has hurt themselves while frying their turkey.

This year, they say they want to do everything they can to make sure no fryer-related injuries occur in Kern County.

Safety Tips:

- Fryer should be used outside, never inside.

- Never leave fryer unattended.

- Don't overfill your fryer.

- Use goggles and potholders.

- Never use an extinguisher for a grease fire.
