Man Dies After Truck Collides With Train

Martin Ayon Rios, 37, of Delano died when his vehicle collided with a train near Shafter, Calif. at around 10:30 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol said a train collided with a vehicle at Santa Fe Way and Merced Avenue early Monday.

According to the CHP, the man, not watching where he was going, was leaving an almond orchard in a truck and pulled in front of a freight train.

Officer Greg Williams said, "Unfortunately this is just a tragic accident."

According to Bakersfield.com, Delano Mayor Pedro Rios said the man was his brother.
