Local Soldier Arrested In New Mexico

DEMING, New Mexico -- A local soldier is under arrest after police said he tried to rob a convenience store Wednesday.New Mexico State police arrested Pfc. Rodney Kelley following an attempted robbery at a truck stop outside Deming.Police said Kelley flashed a pellet gun at clerks and demanded money.
When they refused, he fled.They also said he led state troopers on a high-speed chase before he eventually pulled over and surrendered.Officers at the Luna County detentions center told ABC23 he is being held on charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.Bail is set at $17,500.
