Girl Stuck In Steering Wheel

UPDATED: 12:08 am PST February 16, 2008

Bakersfield fire crews had a delicate operation Thursday to free a girl whose head was caught in a steering wheel.

Angelica Perez, 4, got her head wedged in the steering wheel of her family's catering truck parked in southeast Bakersfield.

Before fire crews arrived, bystanders tried to free the girl.

"We tried to put oil between her head and the steering wheel and when that didn't work, I called the fire department," said Greg Clemons.

Once the fire department arrived, it took crews just a few minutes to saw through the steering wheel and free Perez.

She wasn't hurt and there's no word on just how she got her head stuck.
