E. Coli Outbreak Traced To Buttonwillow Ranch

A Kern County farm has been linked to a 2006 e-coli outbreak in three states.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Wegis Ranch in Buttonwillow grew lettuce contaminated with e-coli.

The lettuce was served at two Taco John's restaurants in Iowa and Minnesota in November and December of 2006.

Officials said 81 people became ill, 26 of which, had to be hospitalized.
