DELANO, Calif. -- The Delano Police Department Gang Unit has issued a warning to Delano and McFarland residents that gangs may be using car crashes as a form of gang initiation.

Residents of those areas involved in a rear-end collision should not exit their vehicles, but drive directly to the police department, police said.

Though police said the information may not be credible, they are concerned with the safety of their residents and said to use extreme caution.
