BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Sheriff's detectives made a gruesome discovery Thursday night along Rancheria Road in east Bakersfield.

The Kern County Sheriff's Department said a pair of ATV riders found the body of a man just after 6 p.m. about eight miles east of Highway 178.

Officials said the body showed obvious signs of trauma and appeared to have been there for several days.

There's still no clue as to the victim's identity.
