BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Students at California State University Bakersfield will meet later Thursday at the Icardo Center to protest budget cuts.

Students along with faculty and campus employees will join forces to oppose Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed budget cuts to the CSU system.

Schwarzenegger is proposing nearly $400 million in budget cuts for the coming school year.

Opponents said the cuts would force the system to turn away thousands of qualified students along with an increase in student fees and possible layoffs.
