While the mysterious film shot just outside of Bakersfield, Calif., has been revealed as one of the sets for a new "Star Trek" prequel, a car crash has involved one of the movie crew.

After ABC23 received numerous calls and e-mails about the mysterious movie being shot, the California Highway Patrol said the filming near Highway 119 and Enos Lane is for a “Star Trek” prequel.

According to imdb.com, the movie, which chronicles the early days of James T. Kirk and fellow crew members, is set to be released in May of 2009. The movie is slated to feature Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, Winona Ryder and Chris Pine as a young Captain Kirk.

While crew members declined to comment at the site, there were some unwanted special effects after a head-on crash on Highway 119 in front of the movie set.

The CHP said the site manager tried to turn onto a road where filming was set to take place, but crossed in front of oncoming traffic and hit a truck.

The driver of the truck and passenger in the car were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The crash did not disrupt filming.
