TEHACHAPI, Calif. -- The Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District told the public that in order to support the existing $15 million bond to build the hospital, each person who owns a $200,000 parcel will have to pay $47 a year. Also at the meeting tonight, hospital CEO Allan Burgess presented six different options that will make all the necessary changes to the hospital's design.Last month, an independent reviewer reported several design problems and told officials to go back to the drawing board.
Noticeably missing from Wednesday night's meeting was the designing firm Aspen Street Architects. They did not come because they were told their travel expenses were not going to be paid. The board will send the findings to them by mail and they will have two weeks to respond. After that time, the board will choose from one of the design options and move forward.
