BUTTONWILLOW, Calif. -- A day after CHP officials recommended that a local motorcycle group meet at Buttonwillow Raceway instead of the municipal airport, a Southern California man has been killed in an accident at that same track.

John-Mark Arechiga, 40, of San Diego was practicing for an upcoming race when he lost control of his motorcycle around 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

An hour later, he succumbed to his injuries at Kern Medical Center.

This comes after recommendations by law enforcement that members of the Bako Boyz motorcycle club meet at the raceway to ride in a supervised environment.
