BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Local supporters of Barack Obama are calling for the removal of a radio talk show host, after they discovered his Web site shows fake bumper stickers with racist slogans.E-mail correspondence over the weekend details how local Democratic leaders planned to boycott advertisers on KNZR for the bumper stickers they saw on Jaz McKay's Web site.1560 KNZR Site: View Graphics
They said they should "let [KNZR] know what [they] think of this kind of garbage," Candi Easter, Kern County Democratic chairwoman, said in an e-mail to Obama supporters.McKay defended his right to free speech. "It was a joke," McKay said. He added that he believes the current democratic election for a Presidential nominee is about race.The material was created on another website, and not by McKay. KNZR general manager Steve Darnell said McKay would not be disciplined.
