The Bakersfield Police Department will be holding a seminar for downtown business owners Tuesday morning to help them work together to create a safer atmosphere.

A takeoff of the Neighborhood Watch Program, the Downtown Business Watch meeting is offered by police to give business owners tips on how to deal with transients, skateboarders, panhandlers and other public nuisances.

It's designed to help businesses protect their employees, communicate with neighboring businesses effectively and work with police.

Business Watch is set for the second Tuesday of each month.
