Fundraiser To Be Held For Injured Officer

It's been more than three months since a Bakersfield Police Department officer was shot while on duty, which later cost him his leg.

Now one group is reaching out by holding the "Dennis Eddy Fundraiser." Organizers hope the fundraiser will make a big difference.

In February, Officer Eddy was shot twice when he was stopping a suspected gang member.

Eddy was shot once in his bullet-resistant vest and once in the leg. His leg later had to be amputated.

Since then, several organizations have taken him under their wing to help out his family.

On Wednesday, the young lawyers section of the Kern County Bar Association are going to do their part by holding a cocktail hour, dinner and silent auction at the Petroleum Club at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 and only available in advance. Please call 661-326-1611.
