BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- David Sylvester left his day job as a vaccine scientist in Seattle to go on the two-wheeled adventure of a lifetime. With his four-legged friend, Chiva, they're trying to become the first human-canine team to bike and climb the highest peaks in each of the lower 48 states.Sylvester stopped in Bakersfield Tuesday, on his way to Mt. Whitney in the Sierras.
He expects the journey to take around 15 months to complete, but says he's doing it to raise awareness about the relationships people have with their pets.If you would like to track their progress, you can go to Sylvester's blog at www.tourdedog.org.Get more on ABC23: Blog: Skipping School For INDIANA JONES?Watch an ABC23 Documentary: The Last Band.
