'Meals On Wheels' Program Impacted By Rising Gas Prices

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- North of the River's “Meals On Wheels” program may come to a screeching halt because donations are in short supply.NOR said rising gas and food prices are eating into the program. They said those unexpected costs may stop delivery to hundreds of homebound seniors.In 2007, volunteers delivered more than 46,000 meals. In 2008, more than 200 plates of food are served up daily.
