State Hands Out Local Distinguished School Awards

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Four local schools have been given top marks by the state of California.Downtown Elementary School, Columbia Elementary School, Fruitvale Junior High and Stockdale Elementary School have all been named distinguished schools by the California Department of Education.Just 343 schools across the state garnered the big achievement.
Officials said administrators, teachers, parents and students are all responsible for the success.
