Police: Woman Again Arrested For Animal Cruelty

MOJAVE, Calif. -- A highly publicized animal cruelty case is making headlines again.Police said Cindy Bemis was arrested on Friday on 14 new counts of animal cruelty.Bemis has been in and out of jail in recent years, accused of hoarding more than 100 dogs at her Mojave compound.
She faces scores of charges in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.During a court-ordered inspection, Animal Control officials said they found more neglected dogs on her property, even though she was ordered not to house anymore animals.One dog was impounded, three were taken to and area vet.The rest of the dogs could not be captured by Animal Control officials.During that inspection another woman, Cynthia Trapani, was arrested for assaulting an Animal Control officer, resisting arrest and six counts of animal cruelty.Bemis is now being held on $140,000 bail and Trapani on $92,500 bail.
