POSTED: 9:49 am PDT June 16, 2008

The trial starts on Monday for a Shafter High School teacher charged with possessing the ingredients used to make methamphetamines.

However, charges that Jeff Scheidemantel was planning to make meth in his classroom lab were dropped.

Police said Scheidemantel bought red phosphorus, a key ingredient in the making of the drug.

Scheidemantel has pled not guilty.
