Some Safe-And-Sane Fireworks Not Allowed In City

Officials Say Some Fireworks Cannot Be Set Off In City Limits

Fire officials are taking every opportunity they can to warn people about the potential dangers that fireworks bring.

People have been stocking up on fireworks since booths opened Tuesday. Fire officials said they want people to enjoy the fireworks and celebrate, but they are asking people to back off the fireworks just a little more this season due to the high fire dangers.

They said if people are going to use them, they need to know about the rules involved. Officials also said people are allowed to use safe-and-sane fireworks between 9 a.m. to midnight each day through July 4.

Ground flowers and Piccolo Pete’s are sold in Kern County but are not allowed to be burned in Bakersfield city limits, officials said.

Fire officials are asking people to limit the use of all fireworks, and keep a water source close by just in case. They said altering fireworks, such as taking out its contents and putting them in a container is a felony and anyone who is caught will be arrested.
