BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The issue of same-sex marriage is slated to be a hot topic at the Kern County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday.A local group asked the board to create a local ordinance making same-sex marriage illegal in the county. However, county officials denied the request because state law trumps local law and gay marriage is legal in the state.
Opponents to the law plan to be at the meeting in hopes the board will consider an anti-gay marriage proclamation.Voters will decide on a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage on the November ballot.
