Meth Teacher 2

Teacher Convicted Of Making Meth

Man Pled Not-Guilty In Feb.

A Shafter High School chemistry teacher has been found guilty of manufacturing a controlled substance.

Police said Jeff Scheidemantel bought "red phosphorus" online, which is a key ingredient used to make methamphetamines.

A jury found Jeff Scheidemantel guilty yesterday on one count, but there was a hung jury on the second count of possession of materials for making meth.

Prosecutors said Scheidemantel also looked up recipes to make the drug; however, they were not able to prove he had the intent to make the drug in his classroom. Those charges were dropped.
