According to Tresa Redburn of Dept. 56, after undergoing surgery, legendary singer Merle Haggard finally gets to come home.

Haggard underwent a biopsy during which physicians saw that he had non-small cell lung cancer. Current tests show that they have effectively removed the upper lobe of his right lung which in turn has removed the cancer.

Upon awakening, Haggard opened his eyes, yodeled and smiled. Haggard was discharged Saturday night, Redburn said.

Haggard said, "Due to the surgeon, Dr. Peck, the Tylenol pushers on the fourth floor of the Memorial Hospital, and most of all, my wife Theresa, I'm feeling good…better and better each day. If not for the love and wisdom of my wife, I might not be around today."

According to www.merlehaggard.com, Merle's wife Theresa wrote, "Merle and I both believe strongly in our Lord Jesus Christ and His healing powers. After all He is the greatest physician of all. Believing in our prayers to be answered is the key. Faith!"

Haggard added, “I’d sure like to know who controls the largest shares of Tylenol. God forbid it be the oil companies!”
