BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Police said at about 3 p.m. Sunday, one group of four people were in a car driving near the 5200 block of Thyme Lane.

Another car carrying six to seven passengers approached the first car.

A man got out of the first car with a tire iron and went to confront the second car.

Police said a passenger got out of the second car with a shotgun firing at least four times.

A man and a woman in the first car were hit and taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries, the police reported.

Two Hispanics were said to have fled the scene but were later arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said the violence stems from a dispute back in July.
