BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- There was an outburst from an accused animal hoarder Tuesday in court.Cynthia Gudger, who has used other names, including Anita Gilbert, demanded to be released with a monitoring device from court Tuesday morning.Gudger's competency hearing was postponed until January because a doctor needs to review more records.
Gudger told ABC23 during the trial that she was shocked with a Taser in Lerdo jail last week, then yelled obscenities and called her attorney a derogatory name.Sheriff officials confirmed last week that Gudger was shocked with a Taser while in jail after she caused a disturbance and was banging her walker in her cell.Officials said Gudger lunged at a female officer when she tried to get Gudger to stop, then the officer used a Taser on Gudger.Gudger was taken to Kern Medical Center where the probes were removed, checked by a doctor and returned to jail. The use of the Taser will be reviewed.Animal control officials said the numerous surviving dogs and cats she is accused of abusing at her Cummings Valley home, are up for adoption.Previous Story
