Attempted Kidnapping Near Foothill High School

POSTED: 12:44 pm PST February 2, 2009
UPDATED: 10:36 am PST February 3, 2009

At about 9:20 a.m. Monday, Kern County Sheriff deputies responded to Foothill High School to reports of an attempted kidnapping.

A female student told deputies that an unknown man tried to kidnap her while she was walking to school at about 9:00 a.m., KCSO reported.

The student said that while she was walking in the area of Eucalyptus Drive and Golden Street, the man drove beside her and asked her to get into his vehicle, KCSO reported.

The student said she ignored the man and continued walking to school.

A short time later, as the student was walking on Foothill Dr, the same vehicle pulled up beside her. The suspect opened the drivers’ side door of his vehicle and grabbed her arm, deputies reported.

She began hitting the man and pulled away from him. She then began running towards the school. The student was not injured during the incident, deputies reported.

The man is described as a short Hispanic male in his early 20s, with black hair that is combed forward. He was wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as an early model green and tan Ford Explorer.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 861-3110.
