TEHACHAPI, Calif. -- The snow started falling early Thursday afternoon, and that is when one woman who was visiting her daughter in Bear Valley decided it would be a good time to head back home to Victorville.Suzanne Gabel said, "We were eating lunch and it started snowing and I thought ‘uh oh, I better start heading home now.’ And they closed the gates right before us, so we didn’t make it home.”Due to the weather, Gabel opted to get a hotel room and she wasn't the only one booking a room.
One Sacramento couple was looking forward to a Valentine’s weekend in Las Vegas.Jonikka Harava said, “We were on our way to Vegas for the weekend. We got a baby sitter for our two kids; we haven’t had a vacation in three years. So, now we are stuck here.”A California City couple was heading to Paso Robles in San Luis Obispo County to go wine tasting this weekend, but their plans were changed when they lost control of their SUV on Highway 58.Tony Parker said, “The car got uncontrollable, hit the curb on the edge and just softly laid over. I watched the mirror and the glass break and then we were just lying on our side.”The couple says they are taking a rain check on wine tasting and instead is planning on staying the night in Tehachapi before trying to head home to California City on Saturday. And while the snow disrupted many people plans, some folks decided to make the best of it, and have a good old-fashioned snow ball fight. To find out about road conditions you can call CalTrans at 1-800-427-7643.Related Story
