BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to a trailer park at 123 McCord Ave. in Oildale on a call related to a possible drunk man bleeding and creating a disturbance in the trailer park. When deputies arrived, they saw a man who they say was covered in blood, wildly swinging hedge trimmers at other people in the trailer park. The 55-year-old man had recently moved into the trailer park.
Deputies said they ordered the man to drop the hedge trimmers and he did so.As deputies were directing the man to come to them, he suddenly ran into a trailer.A deputy shot the man with a Taser, stopping him.Medical aid responded and determined the suspect had a head injury caused prior to the deputies arrival. The man was transported to Kern Medical Center by ambulance. The investigation revealed the man had sustained a head injury from an unsuccessful suicide attempt before the deputies were called out.The man is listed in critical condition, but his injuries are not life-threatening. No arrests have been made.
