BAKERSFIELD,Calif -- Two men were shot to death and two others injured Monday morning in Central Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police department.The shooting occurred about 3:30 am at an apartment complex on Brundage Lane near South H Street. Witnesses told police one or more shooters entered the building and began shooting. Police found two men in front of the apartments. One died at the scene, another at the hospital.Late Monday night the BPD released a photo and description of one of the suspects. Wanted is 30-year-old Lupe Ramos, 5’6, 200, black hair, brown eyes. Anyone with information on Ramos' whereabouts is urged to contact the BPD at 327-7110 or the Secret Witness Hotline at 322-4040.
The two victims were identified as Manuel Joe Montijo, 29, and Juan Carlos Martinez, 27. A woman, Nicole Rogers, 26, was also shot and another man, Jose Salgado, 37, was beaten. Neither of those injuries is considered life-threatening, according to police.The police SWAT team spent several hours on scene to determine if the suspects were still inside, but after sending a robot into the apartment, it was determined to be empty.This shooting is the latest in a series of homicides over the Memorial Day weekend, all of which occurred within a few hours of each other early Sunday morning.
