LEBEC, Calif. -- The Kern County coroner has released a report stating that an 8-month old baby has died after the truck he was traveling in overturned on the 1-5 near Lebec Friday evening.

The coroner's report said the family of six was from Los Angels and traveling north on the 1-5 north while it was raining at about 6:40 p.m.

It said that the truck suddenly left the roadway and overturned near the truck escape ramp in rural Lebec.

Everyone was airlifted to Kern Medical Center where the baby died just before 1:00a.m. Saturday.

The baby's mother was ejected and is in critical condition.

Other family members suffered minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
