BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Here are some tips to improve the reception of the KERO-TV digital signal with an indoor antenna.
1 - The KERO-TV digital signal is on channel 10, a VHF signal. The virtual channel is 23-1. 2 - The telescopic rods of an indoor antenna should be pulled out to 31 inches tip to tip. 3 - The telescopic rods should be laid flat parallel to the floor. 4 - They should be raised as high as possible facing parallel to the east of Bakersfield. 5 - Place them in an east facing window if possible. 6 - An amplified indoor antenna with the telescopic rods (rabbit ears) works best. 7 - Try punching in 23-1 and/or 10-1 on the remote control to see if it forces it to come on. 8 - If all else fails try rotating and moving the antenna around while re-scanning the TV or converter box. 9 - A roof top Combo UHF/VHF antenna works best since there is less obstruction to the received signal. 10 - The KERO-TV transmitter site is 25 miles east of downtown Bakersfield on Breckenridge Mtn. 11 - KERO is in the process of increasing the transmitter power by 2.5 times with an added vertical element in the antenna to improve indoor reception. Estimated completion date is July 31st, 2009. 12 - For technical assistance call 661-637-2323. Or for more information on the DTV switch, visit, www.turnto23.com/digital-tv.
