ABC23 Helps Setup Hotline Numbers For Cooling Centers

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- With temperatures spiking well over 100 degrees, Kern County will open several cooling centers to help rescue people from the heat.View Cooling Centers In Your AreaWhen several people flooded our newsroom with calls about where they could find the cooling centers if they didn't have the internet, we understood their concerns and took them very seriously.
Within 24 hours, we were able to get in contact with the Department of Parks and Recreation and were able to get a hotline number for the public so that those who didn't have the internet would be able to find out where the cooling centers are.So if you know of anyone without the internet who would need this service have them callParks & Rec Dept. 661-868-7000 orAging & Adult Services: 800-510-2020 KC officials are encouraging seniors and others at risk from heat, to stop by a cooling center if they need some relief.San Joaquin and Kern River Valley locations will open when temperatures reach 105, in the desert areas when temps spike above 108 and in the Tehachapi and Frazier Park areas when temperatures top 95.
