BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The man accused of killing 2-year-old Guillermo Alvarez pleaded not guilty Monday.

Joshua Preston is in jail for the alleged beating death of Guillermo Alvarez.

The coroner's office said Alvarez died from blunt force trauma.

Preston is accused of beating Alvarez to death after Alvarez’s mother left him in Preston’s care.
