At about 5:45 a.m. Tueday, officers were sent to the Super 8 Motel regarding a shooting.

As officers arrived, they said another call was received regarding a victim of an assault with a deadly weapon at the Chevron Gas Station located at 3300 White Lane.

Officers said they found Rios who was suffering from a single gunshot wound and was the victim from the Super 8 Motel.

Rios was taken to Kern Medical Center where he later died.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered there were two suspects involved, officials said.

Oscar Rene Quintero Medina, 28, is described as Hispanic, 6 feet tall, weighing 175 pounds. He has short black hair, brown eyes and a large “KC” tattooed on the left side of his head.

There is an active warrant for Medina charging him with murder, robbery, conspiracy and gang participation.

Officials were only able to get a description of the second person involved. That man was described as Hispanic, 28 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball hat, black T-shirt, and black and white checkered shorts.

Police have identified 28-year-old Jessica Martinez as a person of interest in this case.

Martinez is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with long brown hair, brown eyes, and several small star tattoos on the left side of her neck and chest.

Martinez also has an active parole warrant for her arrest.
