Two deputies who worked in Santa Clara County jails have been arrested in separate investigations.
The Sheriff's Department announced the arrests Friday of Ryan Saunders and Mark Navarette.
The department alleges Saunders illegally looked up the confidential records of people he had personal relationships with.
Navarette is accused of workers' compensation fraud. The department says he was injured playing in a softball game, but fraudulently claimed he was hurt in the workplace.
The arrests come at a time of trouble and scrutiny for the jail system, though neither arrest is related to the fatal beating of a mentally ill inmate that has led to a broad investigation of brutality reports and the removal from duty of eight other correctional deputies.
It wasn't clear if either man has hired an attorney.
