Kazuhiro Kokubo's Vehicle Rolled 3 Times, Police Say

A championship snowboarder was injured during a vehicle crash.

On May 20, at 7:15 p.m., officer Ed Smith with the California Highway Patrol a 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser was traveling southbound US 395 near Leliter Road when the driver lost control.

The vehicle entered the center median area and overturned 3 times, officers said.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Kazuhiro Kokubo, was wearing his seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

He was transported to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital.

Alcohol was not a factor in this collision, officers are investigating the possibility that Kokubo fell asleep while driving.

The California Highway Patrol reminds all drivers that driving while sleepy is extremely dangerous, and reminds drivers to get plenty of rest before they drive.
