On Wednesday, Bakersfield police conducted a traffic stop finding 36 pounds of cocaine in the gas tank of Edward Bosma's car.

During the course of the traffic stop officers requested the assistance of the Narcotics K-9 with the Kern County Probation Department.

While searching the vehicle, officers discovered that the gas tank on the vehicle had been modified, Mary DeGeare of the BPD reported.

Inside the modified gas tank officers recovered 36 pounds of cocaine, with a street value of $1.8M, DeGeare reported.

Bosma, 67, of British Columbia, Canada, was arrested on charges of narcotics trafficking.
