$10.5M In Marijuana Eradicated

KERN COUNTY -- Around 7 a.m. Monday, deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit, with assistance of officers from Immigration Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) and Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (C.A.M.P.), located three marijuana grows on private property in a remote area south east of Highway 223 and Highway 58.Approximately 4,018 immature marijuana plants with an estimated street value of $10,045,000 were eradicated from the area.Due to the rough terrain and remoteness of the area, the plants were carried out by a helicopter and dropped at the command post. No suspects were located during the operation.
Officers located one camp site within the grows containing fertilizer and other hazardous materials used to maintain the marijuana.The water supply and natural vegetation in the area was disrupted.The camps were dismantled, and the items were removed from the area.
