H1N1 Vaccine Available in Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The H1N1 vaccine is now available in Kern County.2,000 doses of nasal mist vaccines will be available, but only to certain people.Those not eligible for the vaccine are pregnant women, children six months to two years old, and those with long term health problems because the nasal spray contains an active amount of the swine flu, according to the Kern County Department of Public Health.
The future needle injection form of the vaccine will be safe for everyone, including those high-risk groups.The health department will be offering free H1N1 vaccines to eligible patients at various health department clinics.The Bakersfield clinic will offer the vaccine - Monday to Thursday -- from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays -- from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The vaccine will also be available during regular hours at county public health clinics in outlying communities.Clinic contact information is listed below.Bakersfield 1800 Mt.
