Fake Amber Alert Circulating Through Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- The Bakersfield Police Department has received information about a text message circulating around town about an Amber Alert in Bakersfield.Detective Mary DeGeare issued a statement regarding the text message and said that the BPD is not working on anything that would necessitate an Amber Alert.The text message urged that the public to keep sending the information forward as to get the word out.
The text message read, "AMBER ALERT 3 yr old boy taken by man on chester ave, bakersfield, ca driving a 2006 mitsubishi eclipse plate #98B351... Keep It Going."
