BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A 13-year-old girl is still missing after her parents said she ran away from home to meet a 14-year-old boy that she met on MySpace.

Brandon, 13, is considered at risk because she is a first-time runaway and she had been communicating with a 14-year-old boy in Jerome, Idaho, by telephone and via MySpace, Detective Mary DeGeare said.

DeGeare said that Brandon was last seen by her parents on Oct. 21 at 9 a.m., and was believed by them to be en route to Idaho.

Law enforcement in Idaho was notified and the boy and his family were contacted.

According to the boy's family, Brandon was not expected there.

On Monday, investigators contacted Amtrak and discovered that on Oct. 21, a 45-year-old white man standing approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes inquired about fares to Jerome, Idaho, which is the area investigators suspected Brandon was en route to, DeGeare said.

The unidentified man then took a taxi to Fresno, Calif., DeGeare said.

Brandon does have family in the Fresno area; however, they have indicated they are unaware of Brandon's whereabouts.

Investigators have been in contact with and are working with law enforcement in Fresno.
